BOTOX and other wrinkle relaxer treatments are very tolerable. The injections are performed with a fine needle and feel like a quick pinch or slight sting. While discomfort is minimal, your provider can apply a topical numbing cream beforehand if you’re especially sensitive. The entire process is quick (usually under 10 minutes), and any mild redness or swelling typically resolves within a few hours, allowing most people to return to their regular activities immediately after treatment.

For most, one appointment is all that’s needed to achieve results, with effects lasting 3 to 4 months, depending on the product used and how your body metabolizes it. To maintain smooth, youthful-looking skin, follow-up treatments are recommended every three to four years. Over time, regular visits may help train the muscles to stay more relaxed, potentially extending the time between touch-ups.

You may start to notice subtle improvements within 3 to 5 days after your injection, but full results generally appear within 7 to 14 days. Wrinkles and expression lines will gradually soften as the treated muscles relax, resulting in a smoother, more refreshed appearance of your skin. If it’s your first time receiving BOTOX or a wrinkle relaxer, your provider may recommend a two-week follow-up to assess your results and make any necessary adjustments.
